BIM dimension was founded by Javier Cifuentes in 2013. He is an architect with a profound passion for leading innovations within the AECO industry. With over 20 years of experience spanning the US, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, I have consistently been at the forefront of integrating emerging technologies and innovative practices into the field.
His journey with innovation and emerging technologies for the AECO industry began in 2001 in New York City, designing residential, commercial and community projects of varied size and complexity.
In 2005, he joined one of the leading architectural firms in the New England region, specializing in high-end residential New England-style projects. He spearheaded the implementation of advanced standards and procedures for these large, complex projects.
In 2008, he was entrusted with the design and preparation of high-quality working drawings for the Concept Master Plan Submittal to “The World” Development Control Regulator in Dubai. Utilizing a self-designed BIM automated template, he developed a comprehensive BIM database for the design of two artificial island projects. This innovation enabled efficient coordination among all professionals involved and facilitated dynamic modifications to spaces and buildings.
In 2010, while working for DAR Al Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, he initiated the DAR Al Riyadh BIM department and was the BIM Project Manager for a 954,984 SF mixed-use development, a 500,000-unit housing project, a 4,657-hectare industrial city project, and various other projects of differing sizes and complexities.
From 2018 to 2023, he served as a VDC Manager for the esteemed construction company SKANSKA. He led VDC implementation, directly supporting pursuits and projects, assisting in the development and implementation of VDC standards, and contributing to marketing and business development efforts. Notable projects included Minnesota St. Graduate Student & Trainee Housing, SFO AirTrain Extension & Improvements, Cordilleras Mental Health Center, Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, AWS-SFO 69_2315 Gilroy Data Center, Solidigm Headquarters in Rancho Cordova, CA, and other projects of various sizes and complexities.
He has been a speaker at buildingSMART® sponsored IQPC BIM Summits in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and India, for Autodesk® in Colombia, Autodesk University Las Vegas 2019, and various other BIM seminars for business groups and universities.
Currently, He is the CEO of BIM Dimension. he leads marketing and sales for projects, including the design and construction BIM coordination of a 38-hectare Technology Campus Zonamerica Colombia, the initial phase of BIM technology implementation for the City of Cali’s (2.5 million population) utilities company EMCALI, and the BIM management of the design and construction process for the City of Cali mass transportation system, among other projects of varying sizes and complexities.
